• The wrap or accent trim may be swapped for one of equal or greater value if needed, but the poinsettia itself is never substituted for a different flowering plant.

What's the story behind the poinsettia and Christmas?

According to a Mexican legend, a child with nothing to bring to the baby Jesus on a holy night before Christmas gathered simple weeds, which bloomed into bright red flowers by morning. The plant behind that story, Euphorbia pulcherrima, was later brought north by Joel Roberts Poinsett, and it's been tied to Christmas ever since. It's native to Central America, with relatives across Mexico.

Can I get a white poinsettia instead of red?

This poinsettia comes in the deep red most people associate with the classic Christmas flower. It also grows in white and soft pink, ask us for this same floor size in a different shade.

Can this poinsettia bloom again next year?

With patience, yes. Starting in early October, give it about six weeks of total darkness each night until the bracts spread into new color. Keep the temperature steady, since a cold draft slows new growth.
