Asiatic lilies are the birthday workhorse: upward-facing, unscented, and grown in the bright pinks, oranges and yellows that suit a celebration. Fields of Europe Romance pairs pink Asiatic lilies with red roses and gerbera daisies, while Floral Embrace and Petals Embrace mix lilies with roses and sunflowers in warm yellows and oranges. Blushing Beauty Bouquet gathers blush pink lilies with hot pink roses, lavender carnations and hydrangea, and Alice pairs roses, lilies and hydrangea in red and white in a twisted ginger vase. Order by 2:00 PM Monday to Friday or 12:45 PM on Saturday, in the recipient's local time, and a florist near them designs the bouquet from our recipe and hand-delivers it that day, in water. Lilies are often sent with one or two blooms open, which is exactly what you want: the rest open over the following days and the bouquet keeps changing for a week or more. Choose any delivery date at checkout when you are planning ahead, add your card message, and read how delivery works if you are sending to an office, a school or a hospital. Lilies carry a reputation for elegance, and in the language of flowers they are read as symbolizing happiness, renewal and devotion, which is why they turn up at weddings, on Mother's Day and in anniversary arrangements as well as birthdays. Pink and white lilies are elegant and a safe choice for a mother, a grandmother or a colleague; orange and yellow Asiatic lilies feel festive and suit a friend or a sibling, and the deep reds in Alice add a little passion for a partner. One caution for loved ones with pets: lilies are toxic to cats, so if the recipient has a cat, send birthday roses, sunflowers or daisies instead.
