Sunflower care

Sunflowers are heavy drinkers with heavy heads. Use a tall vase, fill it to the top, change the water every two days and re-trim the stems each time to ensure they keep drinking. Keep the arrangement out of direct sun indoors and close the blinds on a hot afternoon, and expect a week of good looks from the sunflowers while the roses and lilies around them carry on. If one head starts to droop, cut the stem shorter and stand it in deep water overnight; it is a surprising amount of water that a sunflower can take back in.
